Ruben Neves has been sent back to Wolves from international duty, reports Record and others in Portugal.
The Wolves midfielder picked up a yellow card in the match against Italy, and along with Napoli’s Mario Rui, who also got a booking, is unavailable for the match against Poland due to a subsequent ban.
It’s Portugal’s final UEFA Nations League game, but they’ve already qualified for the semi-finals of the competition which will be held in the country.
Manager Fernando Santos could have chosen to keep the players around until after the Poland match, but instead he’s dispensed with their services and won’t be calling up anyone to replace them in the squad.
Nuno Espirito Santo will surely be pleased to get Neves back, and it’s some good relationship building from the Portuguese set-up.
Wolves have already lost Jonny Otto, who was injured whilst playing for Spain on Sunday.
The fullback left the stadium on crutches and reports in the Spanish media are pessimistic about the player’s fitness situation.
Initial examinations suggested a medial knee ligament injury, and not a trivial one.
Jonny Otto | It’s not looking good. Knee injury, on crutches.
RFEF: ‘the picture is compatible with a lesion of the medial collateral ligament that, although pending definition, could be a grade II-III.’https://t.co/akPMSn2XOy #wwfc #wolvesfc pic.twitter.com/6WfZuxFGBF
