Rúben Amorim’s impending arrival at Manchester United has turned the rumour mill regarding Red Devils transfers on its head and provided a whole new stream of material.

The Italian media are grasping the opportunity with both hands, especially when it comes to Joshua Zirkzee.

During the summer window, Manchester United signed the player from Bologna, seemingly being prepared to pay the colossal agent commission to Kia Joorabchian – he of Carlos Tevez fame – which AC Milan decided was a dealbreaker.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, the Dutchman has failed to impress and has left some fans uncertain about what his role in the team is meant to be.

That will be something for Amorim to work out in the coming months, but Calciomercato believe he’s already looking beyond Zirkzee.

They say the manager ‘wants to rely on his own ideas’ and bring his own attacking options in.

Therefore, a quick exit is on the cards.

Juventus and AC Milan are presented as potential destinations, but only if Manchester United allow the 23-year-old to leave on loan.

Of course, it’s hard to believe Calciomercato know what Amorim thinks of Zirkzee when it’s likely the man himself hasn’t even made up his mind yet.

They key here is that there’s likely to be Italian interest should the Premier league club decide this is a signing which isn’t going to work out.
