For the past few days the future of Joel Robles has been covered heavily in the Spanish press. It’s likely the goalkeeper will be leaving Everton this summer and the Spanish newspapers want to find him a new home.
Sunday’s copy of AS newspaper explains that it’s become clear Ronald Koeman doesn’t think enough of Joel to keep him at Everton and give him anything approaching a prominent role, so the player is heading for the exit.
Set to ‘run away’ from Everton, AS say Joel could become Getafe’s next goalkeeper. He’s from Getafe, spent some time with their youth system, and the pieces fit into place.
It’s claimed that Everton have offered Joel a renewal if he stays as third choice, but the player has rejected this. With a contract until June 2018, Everton won’t be able to get a great deal for the player, especially if selling to a club like Getafe.
Should Joel move to the Spanish side then Getafe will likely only want to pay a token fee, and then there’s the problem of matching the player’s wages.
