On Tuesday, La Dernière Heure explained that Celtic have VfL Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels on top of their wanted list. It was also stated Brendan Rodgers’ side have made contact over a potential deal in the summer window.

Anderlecht have also shown interest in the 31-year-old and can provide competition. Celtic’s interest is backed up Het Nieuwsblad, who share more updates on the Jupiler Pro League side’s plan to sign the stopper.

The Belgium international’s deal expires in June and he will be available on a free transfer. This makes him an interesting option for both Celtic and Anderlecht, as both have to look for a new goalkeeper in the next window.

Celtic’s Joe Hart has already announced his retirement while Kasper Schmeichel is unlikely to continue at Anderlecht beyond this season. Therefore, the latter will ‘go all out’ to beat Celtic.

It’s pointed out Celtic can offer Champions League next season and could use this to tempt the player.

On the other hand, Casteels may have to settle for the Europa League or Conference League if he were to join Anderlecht. Despite this, the Belgian club have gone all our and are hoping he picks them over Celtic.
