According to a claim in the Swedish media, Wolverhampton Wanderers made an attempt to sign Djurgarden defender Felix Beijmo during the window.

Expressen report Wolves held ‘intensive’ talks to sign the 19 year old before yesterday’s deadline, but the English side pulled out of the deal.

It’s been suggested the Championship club decided not to pursuit Beijmo in the end, because they had other priorities to strengthen their squad.

Beijmo only joined Djurgarden last March, and he’s regarded as one of the best young fullbacks in the Swedish league.

It seemed inevitable Wolves would be linked with players from Sweden, after the appointment of Gary Goodchild in October.

The former Arsenal player is heading up Wolves’ scouting network in Scandinavia.

With 20 years of experience in Scandinavia as a player and coach, this could be a benefit for the English club, and it’s likely he brought Beijmo to the attention of his new employers.
