Following the recent news from France linking Lucas Paquetá to Manchester United, Brazilian outlet Lance has a take on the situation.
Funny thing is that the midfielder isn’t in great form, which is admitted by his club, and that’s why today’s story from Lance sounds a bit ambigous. Its headline says: ‘Paquetá is being asked for to improve, but versatility puts him on the European radar’.
Lance recalls that the player has been linked to several clubs over the past few months, and got a lot of attention when Catalan newspaper Sport had him on its front page.
Interesting thing is that although Paquetá is undoubtedly Flamengo’s biggest star at the moment, the word within the club is that his departure is very possible.
His contract expires in 2020, and Lance claims there are no talks for a renewal at the moment. It’s said that at Flamengo, they work with the possibility of not having him for the 2019 season.
Paquetá is currently protected by a €50m release clause, and considering the many clubs who have been following him, it’s likely that his transfer fee will get close to that amount.
