Rumoured Manchester United target Brian Brobbey is ‘sitting on packed suitcases’ with current club RB Leipzig as he waits for a move to be sorted this summer.
That’s according to BILD and Sky Sports Germany, who both say the striker isn’t bothered where he ends up so long as he can secure a move away from Leipzig.
BILD explain that Brobbey is currently in Austria for Leipzig’s pre-season training camp but is ‘desperate to leave’ as soon as possible.
In training, he ‘lacks diligence’ and any interest in the club or the team as he waits for a move to be sorted.
This is backed up by Sky, who say Brobbey has only joined Leipzig on the trip ‘reluctantly’ and would prefer to be elsewhere.
They say that there has been an agreement in place for him to return to Ajax for days, but the two clubs are yet to strike a deal.
That is stuck because they cannot agree on the base fee, bonuses and possible clauses; in other words, they haven’t gotten anywhere.
BILD, meanwhile, say that apart from Ajax, Manchester United, chiefly manager Erik ten Hag, are a ‘major interested party’.
According to their information, Leipzig are currently asking for €15m, and they are happy to sell.
Internally, it’s been made clear Brobbey will spend the season sitting in the stands if he doesn’t move on, as the rifts are too deep at this point.
For the player, it’s a case of Manchester or Ajax; he doesn’t care where he ends up as long as he leaves Leipzig.
For Manchester United, he would fill the hole left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential departure.
There’s a deal there to be done, and with Ajax’s negotiation stalling, an opportunity to move in and get their man.
