You may or may not be aware of this (you definitely are), but Real Madrid’s manager is keen on signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
Zinedine Zidane spent all summer trying to sign the Frenchman with no success but, like a dog with a bone, he’s refusing to give up on him.
Pogba is the man Zidane has told Madrid he wants, and it seems they’re not willing to wait until next summer to try and get him.
El Desmarque report today that Florentino Pérez wants to ‘shake the tree’ in January and get a deal for Pogba done.
He’s now thought up a deal to try and convince Manchester United to sell and it will include more than one player.
According to the website, Pérez is trying to bring down the €188m asking price that United have put on Pogba. So, he’s planning to offer €85m plus James Rodríguez and Mariano Díaz to try and sweeten them up.
It’s explained that Rodríguez, who has been linked before, would add creativity to the midfield although Manchester United have reservations about his fitness.
Díaz, meanwhile, is a striker that Ole Gunnar Solskjær likes as he sees him as the same type of player that he was during his playing career at Old Trafford, i.e. the kind that scores without needing lots of minutes or shots.
Whether United would accept such an offer isn’t mentioned, but given both players would add something the club need, it’s easy to see them being tempted.
However, such a deal would mean them being valued at €100m combined, which is sure to be something the United chiefs will disagree on.
