When reading Portuguese newspapers this morning, we found two mentions of Watford which if put together, could turn out to be exciting for the club’s fans.
Starting with outlet A Bola, they’ve taken claims from the Italian press which say Yacine Brahimi has been offered around. And one of the clubs close to winning this race would be the Hornets, with AC Milan also looking strong.
As the claims come from Italy and Brahimi will soon be a free agent, there wasn’t much for A Bola to add to this story. But another report makes it sound it true.
That’s because newspaper O Jogo divulged the list of scouts who watched Porto playing an away league game at Vitória Guimarães this Sunday, and guess who sent emissaries to this match?
Yes, Watford.
O Jogo doesn’t say who the Hornets were watching, but as they are not a club who follow many Portuguese league games, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were there just to watch Brahimi.
Brahimi didn’t have a great night. Despite having the game’s first goal attempt, he ended up being useless when trying to create chances and was the first Porto player to be substituted in the 0-0 draw.
With such a long way until the summer, Watford will probably have other chances to see him in action before then.
