FutbolArena have revealed why Fenerbahce gave up on signing Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina. The Turkish club were linked with a move to for the Arsenal player, but after negotiations both parties were unable to agree on a transfer fee for the 29-year old.
The Turkish website have reported Fenerbahçe board were hoping to convince Arsenal over a loan deal for Ospina next season, but the Premier League side insisted on a permanent move.
Following Arsenal’s stance on Ospina, Fenerbahçe were then prepared negotiate a permanent move for the Colombian. However, after Arsenal demanded €7m, Fenerbahçe decided not to pursue the player.
It’s also been claimed Ospina was keen to play in Turkey, but Fenerbahçe concluded they have other important areas to strengthen this summer. A week ago it was reported in Turkey that the transfer failed because Arsenal increased the price at the last minute.
The Turkish giants are now the verge of signing Carlos Kameni from Malaga and it’s currently unknown where Ospina’s future lies.
