Real Sociedad will be without Arsen Zakharyan for tonight’s clash with Manchester United in the Europa League as he’s been denied a visa by the UK government.
That’s according to El Diario Vasco, who report that the Russian’s ‘odyssey’ to be at the game against Manchester United has ended in failure.
The newspaper explains that Zakharyan had travelled to Paris last night with the hope that he would be granted a last-minute visa for the game.
Both he and teammate Hamari Traoré were unable to fly with the rest of the squad due to visa issues and instead had to stay in Paris while the club tried to deal with the matter.
Traoré was eventually granted a work permit and flew to England last night, but Zakharyan was forced to remain in Paris where he was ‘trying to expedite’ his travel arrangements this morning.
However, according to sources close to the Russian player, the efforts have been unsuccessful, and he will be forced to return to Spain and miss the game at Old Trafford.
The player’s entourage have expressed their gratitude towards Real Sociedad for their efforts in the matter but ultimately, they were unsuccessful, and he won’t be available against Manchester United.
