There’s a story growing in South America that Real Madrid are interested in Miguel Almiron.
The 25 year old has scored two assists in his first two Copa America matches for Paraguay and is winning some new fans.
Signing for Newcastle United at the end of the January transfer window, Almiron has already shown some flashes of his talent for the club. Next season will be all about putting consistent top performances together and making sure there’s an end product.
Ole, TyC Sports, and several Paraguay websites are carrying the claims.
We’ve chased it back to source and it’s coming from a journalist who works for Paraguay’s Tigo Sports.
Markos Gonzalez tweeted on Friday: ‘Attention! – I’ve had it confirmed from Spain that REAL MADRID is following very closely and has their eyes on MIGUEL ALMIRÓN.’
¿Cómo se verá Miguel Almirón con la camiseta de enfrente?

The Spanish press seem to know nothing about this.
Real Madrid being linked with a Paraguayan player is obviously huge news in the country, so it’s curious that Tigo Sports haven’t got this plastered all over their website.
Probably not a lot for Newcastle United fans to worry about.
