Surprising claims from the Spanish media today say that Real Madrid full-back Miguel Gutierrez has an offer to join Arsenal.
The report comes from outlet ABC, who features a big story about the many youngsters who’ve been promoted from the academy of the Santiago Bernabeu side and all the offers they have received.
Gutierrez is one of those who has been showcasing a big potential, as he managed to have a few starts at the end of the last season and now draws the interest from several clubs.
ABC writes he ‘has offers from Getafe, fourteen other Spanish clubs and Arsenal’, before dropping the information that the Gunners are thinking of triggering his release clause.
It’s said the Emirates based club have ‘studied the payment of his clause’, which stands at €40m, in case ‘the Madrilenian wanted to go to London’.
Gutierrez has a contract with Real Madrid running until 2024, and according to ABC, he hasn’t signed a new deal yet because he wants to be in the first team first.
The club apparently told him he’ll stay at Castilla and be ‘constantly’ called upon by manager Carlo Ancelotti, but that may not be enough, and he now analyses if a loan to a club from La Liga would be better.
ABC doesn’t seem to take Arsenal’s offer very seriously, as their story makes it sound like a stay in Spain sounds like a more concrete possibility.
Still, if the Gunners are really thinking about triggering a release clause, then it’s only the player who they must convince of a move.
