Last summer Dani Ceballos was having the time of his life. Named best player at the UEFA U17 championship in Poland, the youngster was wanted by both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
With the midfielder tempted more by the club from the Spanish capital, Madrid paid Real Betis around €16m.
Just 7 starts this season, three of which came in the Copa del Rey, show things haven’t worked out for the 21 year old and he likely needs to find a new way forward this summer.
El Confidencial now report that Madrid are negotiating Ceballos’ sale, back to Betis and again for €16m. It’s explained that Zinedine Zidane wasn’t too keen on the signing anyway and that would explain why he’s hardly used the player.
Florentino Perez is ready to sanction the sale, but wants every euro of the €16m back, and Betis would look for a lower price. Madrid also want a repurchase option, and have no interest in loaning the player.
El Confidencial say talks will continue, and it’s expected an agreement will be found on a transfer which makes sense for everyone involved.
