One of the Real Madrid fans videoed in a viral TikTok video after the defeat to Arsenal has shared his side of the story, insisting it was not good natured or fun for him.
Marca have an interview with Ignacio, a Real Madrid fan, today in which he details what happened in the video and how it was not a pleasant situation for him and his group.
Arsenal were 3-0 winners over Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals this week, with Declan Rice’s two stunning free kick and an equally brilliant strike from Mikel Merino putting them into a commanding position in the tie.
It was a huge evening for Mikel Arteta’s side, who had not been expected to produce such a performance or result against the Spanish giants and reigning European champions.
Arsenal fans were keen to celebrate the result afterwards and while the majority of that was good natured, the usual social media nastiness also reared its head.
This time it was in the form of a TikTok video in which several Arsenal fans are seen mocking a group of Real Madrid supporters on the street after the game.
Ignacio was one of the Real Madrid fans in the video and insists it was not a pleasant situation for him and his friends.
“The next morning, we woke up and were on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok… Several friends had passed the video to us,” he said.
“Only one of us had a battery on his phone, and we were looking for the bus to go back to the hotel. What were we going to do? Whenever we can and work and studies allow, we try to travel away from home to watch the team.”
“There were some pretty unpleasant episodes with our fans. We encountered a huge number of Arsenal fans. This group (the one in the video) consisted of six or seven of them, who filmed us right next to us and intimidated us.
“Behind them, there was another group waiting to see our reaction, as if they were looking for trouble… It was an unpleasant situation for us, but we took it in the best possible way and with humour.”
