Tiago Ilori could be returning to Portugal during the current transfer window, report Record in their Saturday edition.

Talks are said to have started between Reading and Sporting, and the Championship club aren’t exactly putting up a wall to prevent their player’s exit. It’s explained that whilst Sporting’s first offer has been knocked back, Reading will sell at around €3m.

That’s not far from the amount Reading paid Liverpool for the player in the January 2017 transfer window.

Whilst the deal hinges on that amount being agreed, and perhaps compromise from both clubs, Record states that Ilori himself is very keen on returning to Portugal and playing for Sporting.

The 25 year old defender came through the ranks at Sporting and returning to Lisbon is a big attraction for him.

Ilori left the club under something of a cloud, falling out with the then president Bruno de Carvalho. But given Bruno fell out with more people than he didn’t, it won’t have an impact on any return.
