Rangers have been without a manager since Steven Gerrard left for Aston Villa last week and the Scottish Premiership champions are yet to confirm the former Liverpool star’s successor.
On November 16th, we carried a report from De Telegraaf, who explained Rangers held meetings with both Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Frank Lampard at a London hotel at the weekend.
Later that day, Algemeen Dagblad stated Rangers would make a decision on the two targets soon.
AD’s report is relayed by Voetbal Primeur and on Wednesday evening, the website provided an ‘update’ on Van Bronckhorst’s chances of ending up at Ibrox.
It’s explained the 46-year-old and Rangers are ‘approaching an agreement for a multi-year contract’. The Dutchman and the Glasgow club ‘intend to work together’ and to do that, ‘there is a deal’ in place.
Only the ‘finishing touches’ needs sorting, like the coaching staff that will have to follow Van Bronckhorst to Glasgow.
Another outlet, Voetbalkrant, also state Rangers are ‘close to reaching’ an agreement with their former player, who is ‘about to become the new manager’ of the club.
Van Bronckhorst has been linked to the Ibrox club in the past few days and the deal to become Gerrard’s successor at Rangers ‘really doesn’t seem far away’.
