Unwanted at Juventus, Aaron Ramsey needed a way out, even if just a temporary one, in January to get his fitness back to help Wales reach the World Cup.
His national team are well on their way to doing that, with just one game against either Scotland or Ukraine standing in their way, where he could end up facing at least one of his Rangers FC teammates in the process.
The Welshman elected to head to Ibrox to play out the second half of the campaign, seemingly convinced by Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s discourse that this would be the right move for him.
As Calciomercato point out, the start to this new adventure didn’t exactly go well, but he is now ‘definitely showing some good things’.
The 31-year-old has now scored two goals in two games for Rangers in his last two games, including one at Ibrox against Celtic in the Old Firm Derby, which his side ultimately lost.
However, this new form has caught the attention of Juventus, who will be glad to know that the Scottish club are ‘satisfied with the newly found Ramsey’, to the point where ‘there are those who wonder if they should not try to extend his stay in Scotland’.
In fact, ‘nothing would make the Bianconeri leaders happier’, because while, on paper, it appears the deal was a simple loan, Calciomercato explain that Rangers also have a ‘priority’ in case they want to sit down and negotiate further with the Serie A side.
Still, all this ‘remains a difficult scenario’, mostly because of the wages the player is currently on at the Italian club, and a permanent move was always a long shot for the Scottish Premiership side.
