Ianis Hagi to Lazio is becoming a daily report in the Italian sport media.
There’s excitement around the Rangers player, largely because of who his dad is, and that helps his difficult period with Fiorentina be forgotten.
Lazio Siamo Noi report that, having targeted Hagi, Lazio contacted the player’s entourage to ‘probe’ the situation around signing him. That entourage ‘immediately communicated’ that he’d be up for swapping Rangers for the Rome club.
Hagi is actually on loan from Genk, with Rangers having a €6m buying option. Those representing the player had been of the mind that Steven Gerrard’s side wouldn’t be using the clause, so told interested clubs they’d be better negotiating with Genk.
However, there’s been claims from Belgium that Rangers could pay the €6m and then look to sell Hagi immediately for €15m.
The agents involved, and Hagi himself, are against this situation, feeling the player is now ready to make the leap and such a situation would make a transfer to Lazio much more difficult.
According to the report, Genk would also be content for Hagi to return, so they can then negotiate with other clubs themselves. Genk would be looking for €8m.
