According to a claim in the Turkish media, newly promoted Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi have reached an agreement to sign Rangers winger Daniel Candeias.
It’s reported that the 31 year old will leave Rangers to return to Turkish football, where he spent the 2016/17 season with Alanyaspor.
According to Ajansspor, the Portuguese winger was also a target for fellow Super Lig club Caykur Rizespor but he opted to join Turkish capital Ankara side Genclerbirligi because of his children’s education.
The former Benfica player joined Rangers permanently back at the start of 2017/18 season. He played 97 games for the Scottish Premiership club in all competitions across the two seasons and scored 14 goals, whilst providing 23 assists to his teammates.
A few days ago, Steven Gerrard was full of praise for the player, after an impressive performance in a preseason friendly against Marseille. Getting the first half against the French club, he managed to score twice, pleasing the Ibrox boss.
Given that, a move would be a surprise, but the Turkish report is very confident.
Candeias is under contract at Rangers until June 2020.
