On June 29th, US Cremonese sporting director Simone Giaccatta admitted negotiations were underway for Cyriel Dessers to join Michael Beale’s side in the summer window.
Two days later, La Provincia reported the striker is closing in on a move to Ibrox after Rangers made an improved bid to secure his services. It was also said only the ‘signature is awaited’ for him join Beale’s side.
Monday’s Het Belang van Limburg states the 28-year-old has already found an agreement with Rangers for a four-year deal.
It’s further claimed Beale’s side have also agreed a deal with the Italian club for a deal at around €5m, which is €1.5m less than what they had paid to Genk a year ago.
HBVL add the Belgian-born Nigeria international will undergo medical tests with Rangers on ‘Monday and Tuesday’, after which his transfer to Ibrox will be made official.
Beale wanted a new striker in this window after Alfredo Morelos left Rangers as a free agent.
The Colombian is set to be replaced by Dessers, who managed 10 goals and three assists from 32 games last season for Cremonese.
