Rangers beat Glasgow rivals Celtic 2-1 on Sunday, picking up a Scottish Cup final place in the process.

Aaron Ramsey started the match for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, but had to leave the pitch for Rangers before the first half had ended. That presents fresh injury worries for the club, as they enter a key part of the season.

The 31-year-old has had several injury issues since arriving at Rangers on loan from Juventus in the January window. For the Turin club it was finally a solution for them, after well over a year of trying to encourage Ramsey to find himself a new club.

Rangers have a buying option for the Welshman, but it’s not thought likely they’re going to use it. Calciomercato say the club are ‘not convinced’ over the deal and will likely let him return to Juventus at the end of the loan period.

Ramsey has a contract lasting until June 2023, and Juventus want a permanent solution. There’s also the possibility of an early termination, which would make him a free agent, and presumably cost the club money in terms of a pay-off.
