It’s now been four months since Rafa Benitez left his job at Everton, and it seems the manager is in no rush to take charge of a new club.

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web reports that the coach has just received an approach to return to working in Spain, where Espanyol want him on their bench.

Benitez, however, ‘thanked and rejected’ Espanyol, after this first contact from the La Liga side.

Now with an entire summer ahead, it should really be no surprise that the manager will wait and see what shows up on his table instead of taking the first offer that arrives.

Benitez’s last job was at Everton, where he worked between July 2021 and January 2022. He only stayed in charge of the Toffees for 22 games, having seven wins, four draws and 11 defeats.

With Frank Lampard not having a much better campaign, the Toffees spent much of the season trying to avoid relegation, with was only achieved in the 37th fixture.
