In a fresh turn of events, it appears Manchester United are making a late ditch to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and ensure he doesn’t sign for Manchester City.
That’s according to both the English and the Italian press, with Goal Italia journalist Romeo Agresti explaining the race to sign the Old Trafford icon ‘is more open than ever: it’s a Manchester derby’.
Cristiano Ronaldo appeared briefly at Juventus’ training ground on Friday morning to say his goodbyes and was then spotted leaving Turin in a private jet, which TuttoMercatoWeb explain is heading to Lisbon.
There, he will meet Jorge Mendes, who returned to Portugal himself on Thursday night following a frantic few hours travelling from Turin, to Paris and then to Porto.

Whether Manchester United do end up signing him remains to be seen, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did hint during a press conference on Friday that a deal could be done, explaining the player knows how everyone at the club feels about him.
After all, if he can snatch him away from City’s, and Guardiola’s, grasp, it’ll be an expensive win, but a win nonetheless.
