Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani has revealed he isn’t thinking about extending his contract at Parc des Princes, which expires in 2020.
The Uruguayan international arrived in Paris from Napoli in 2013 and has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 winners since then. Despite playing alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic (until 2016) and Neymar, he has managed to impress with his goalscoring abilities.
Cavani, 31, is unsure if he can play at the top beyond 2020 and wants to focus on his game until then, instead of thinking about his future.
He stressed that he is happy with his current employers and has set his sights on winning the Champions League with the French champions, something they were unable to achieve this season after Real Madrid knocked them out in the round of 16.
“I’m 31. I think I can still play two or three seasons at the highest level and I want to focus on this, why think about an extension, I do not know how I’ll be in 2020,” Cavani told RMC Sport.
“I have a contract until 2020. The romance with this club has been growing for some time, I am very happy at PSG, I really want to achieve the club’s goals, I dream of winning the Champions League here.”
Cavani has scored 36 goals in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side this season, winning the Ligue 1 and the Coupe de la Ligue in the process. His goal against Montpellier in January saw him surpass Ibrahimovic’s 157 goals to become PSG’s all-time top scorer.
