Last week saw reports from Germany discuss Manchester United’s interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji.
After SportBild explained the defender has an ‘England dream’ on February 24th, Bild came out with a report a day later, stating the Red Devils are ‘serious’ over bringing him to Old Trafford in the summer.
It was also stated that Ralf Rangnick’s Manchester United are trying to lure the 26-year-old with a four-year deal worth €15m per season.
According to a latest claim from Bild, Akanji is one of 11 BVB players who ‘can or should leave the club’ after this season.
The Switzerland international’s contract expires in 2023, and it includes an annual salary of €5m. He was offered a new deal that could have improved his wages to €8m. However, it was ‘rejected’ by the centre-back as he is demanding to be paid €10m per year.
It’s claimed the Premier League side offers him around €15m per year to join them. With Akanji turning down a renewal offer from the Bundesliga side, a transfer could be on the cards in the summer.
Bild suggest Akanji ‘could probably leave the club for England’, where Manchester United are named as his suitor and have already made an offer to him.
