When we started covering the rumours linking Roger Martinez to Sheffield United, it had been claimed he could be on his way to the Blades in a US$15m move.
A couple of days later, the player himself commented on the rumours, saying he would like to move to Europe. However, the local press said he would only move for US$20m.
Now new claims show up on Monday, and it looks like Sheffield United could have to spend even more to land the Colombian striker.
Mexican outlet Superdeportivo has spoke to sources from his club America. They’ve learned that the player is not for sale, and he’s only leaving for his US$25m release clause.
America are in no big need of money, since they’ve just sold Edson Alvarez to Ajax in a €15m deal. So they will only let their striker go for a very tempting offer.
Despite Martinez’s wish to leave, the club must be convinced as well.
