Ligue 1 side Reims could make a ‘pretty resounding blow’ and sign Baba Rahman from Chelsea ‘in the next few hours’, report L’Equipe in their Tuesday edition.
Rumours about the defender moving to France built on Monday, with Schalke looking to see the back of the player.
The German side loaned Rahman from Chelsea for the full season, but he’s hardly been involved and isn’t in the club’s plans for the second half of the campaign.
So far this season he’d had just 163 minutes in the Bundesliga and 34 minutes in the Champions League.
L’Equipe say the player is ‘close’ to Reims, after the club started efforts over the past few days to sign the 24 year old.
As of Monday evening, the transfer was considered almost agreed. The player’s salary was first thought to be a problem, and it had been claimed Chelsea would need to continue paying a percentage.
However, L’Equipe now state that Rahman is prepared to make ‘significant financial concessions’ to help the deal through.
