As John Textor continues to grow his empire, the American businessman is hoping to own Olympique Lyonnais in France.
It’s been a long ongoing process, which needs approval from the Premier League, as he also is a co-owner at Crystal Palace these days.
On top of the Eagles, Textor also owns Botafogo in Brazil and RWD Molenbeek in Belgium as he tries to create his own small City Group of clubs.
An article in L’Equipe on Thursday explains where the process is with the Lyon acquisition, and it seems we are in the final stages now after the Crystal Palace shareholder passed the financial examination conducted by the DNCG, France’s financial football monitoring organisation.
The process of buying the Ligue 1 side has been going on for around five months, and there could still be a delay, but that depends on the Premier League.
Back on November 9th, it was reported that Textor was ‘struggling to get an endorsement from the English league’, but today’s edition of the newspaper state that, ‘according to sources close to the American’: “The process of closing is going as planned.”
Over at Lyon, it’s said everything has entered the final stages, suggesting the Premier League gave the desired thumbs up.
Following him passing the DNCG examination, it’s said some sort of press release is expected today from the organisation, ‘even if it is just advisory’.
Basically, Eagle Football, created by Textor, ‘should become owners’ of Lyon today, and an announcement of some sort is around the corner, linking the French club to Crystal Palace in the process.
