A couple of days ago Marca had a double page spread celebrating Harry Kane’s record breaking goalscoring. Included as a small part was an opinion piece from Spanish journalist Juan Castro, who put a case forward for Real Madrid signing Kane.
Castro argued that despite other British players not doing as well as expected when moving to Spain, Kane is different and could be a great signing for Real Madrid.
That was it, so nothing for Tottenham fans to be worried about.
Friday’s front page of Marca does, however, look a little more worrying. The Tottenham striker is on the front cover and a transfer is being talked about, but again there’s no suggestion talks are planned or even that there’s serious interest.
Marca are simply explaining Tottenham’s Kane is the player Madrid fans most want… at least the ones they’ve polled.
34% of 100,000 (so 34,000 fans) asked said Kane would be their first choice, with Neymar in second place on 23%.
But, despite the big fanfare, that’s it.
Marca are clearly dipping their toe in the water, but, also clearly, don’t yet have any information on Real Madrid having any intention to sign Kane, never mind make any efforts to do so.
