Borussia Monchengladbach forward Jonas Hofmann has hinted that Chelsea have already approached him ahead of a potential move this summer.
Hofmann has been in impressive form for the Bundesliga side this season, with seven goals and 11 assists in all competition so far this season.
That has apparently caught Chelsea’s attention, with BILD recently reporting that they were keen on the 28-year-old as part of what is looking like being a big summer rebuild at the club.
The newspaper reported that the Blues interest came via manager Thomas Tuchel, who has the player ‘on the note’ after working with him at Borussia Dortmund.
Indeed, Tuchel was said to have held contact with Hofmann’s representatives about a move to Stamford Bridge via a member of his coaching staff at Chelsea.
There’s been no mention of a possible move since that initial report, but Hofmann has now been asked directly about him being linked to the Blues and added fuel to the fire.
“Basically, I feel good at Borussia; I’ve always emphasised that,” he told Ruhr Nachrichten.
“It may be that one or the other club has expressed its interest.
“Nevertheless, for me, the absolute focus is on having a successful season with Borussia and dedicating myself fully to success. I put my personal situation under it.
Then asked directly about Chelsea contact, he added: “I think it’s clear that other clubs will notice you if you perform well. Therefore, it is possible that one or the other has already asked.”
