Throughout the difficult periods for Arsenal, if one player could unite most of the fanbase it’s Hector Bellerin.
Knowing what to say and when to say it, and growing into a leadership role, the 24 year old still has plenty of time to write his name further into the club’s history books.
He made his first Premier League appearance of the season against Leicester City in November after a cruciate knee injury, and whilst there’s always likely to be bumps on the comeback road it’s good for the Gunners that he’s back.
Therefore, sending him elsewhere probably isn’t on the agenda, and it certainly wouldn’t be a popular move among Arsenal’s following.
Calciomercato.it haven’t considered that, and they report that given Arsenal’s interest in Merih Demiral there could be a ‘possible exchange’ with Juventus. They state Bellerin is a player on the margins (although they admit that’s down to injury), and that the values of both he and Demiral are similar.
Recent comments from the fullback’s agent, not ruling out a potential Serie A move, are presented: “The interest of an Italian club was there but I cannot reveal it. He has a long contract and it will not be easy to take him away from Arsenal. He is vice-captain, we will see how the season will go.”
Whilst the Premier League club could do with another central defender, sending one of their better players away in exchange would lead to understandable fury.
This is surely a non-starter.
