Signed early by Brighton & Hove Albion, Deniz Undav knew life at the Amex wouldn’t be all minutes and goals from the off.

The 26-year-old was prepared to wait for his time under Graham Potter, who has since been replaced by Roberto De Zerbi, but what he didn’t expect was to play so little.

He currently has the one start for Brighton to his name, which was a 67 minute game against Forest Green in the EFL Cup, during which he scored.

Outside of that, he has played five times in the Premier League, all substitute appearances, which has totalled to a measly 55 minutes of game time.

This isn’t what the German will have wanted, and while he has patience, it could get to a point where he has to think about something else temporarily.

This is what he said to Het Nieuwsblad, relayed by Walfoot: “Even if I feel good. I live in a pleasant town and we have a good team, even if I hope for a few more minutes soon. I have no idea as to what my future will look like in the next few months.”

Asked whether a return to Belgium on loan could be a possibility, he added: “It’s a possibility, even if my main objective is to stay in England.”

Brighton paid €7m to acquire his services from Union Saint-Gilloise last January, before immediately loaning him back to allow him to finish the season with the Belgian side.
