On Wednesday, English newspaper The Sun published a story saying both Hull City and Sunderland would be fighting to take André André from Porto. The player was said to be available for £5m.
These rumours are always pretty quick to get to Portugal, and that’s why three big newspapers have their answer to the article today.
Starting with A Bola, they claim that Porto have no intention of letting the player go. Even though André André hasn’t been used much this campaign, manager Nuno Espírito Santo still wants him in the squad for at least the rest of the season.
O Jogo checked their sources and also claimed a transfer to Hull or Sunderland is nowhere near close. Porto reportedly have received no bids for the player. They claim it’s ‘no more than speculation’.
And Record went further, asking people from Hull City and finding out that Marco Silva has no intention of bringing the midfielder to England. The Tigers have ‘other priorities’.
Sunderland and Hull aren’t among the Premier League clubs who regularly scout Porto either, making it all a little stranger.
Let’s see if The Sun will stick to this information in the next few days or if they’ll just let it go.
