‘Mourinho at risk’. That’s how newspaper Correio da Manhã writes about the Portuguese boss’ situation at Manchester United today.
Just like many other local newspapers, the outlet covers the chaos lived by the Special One at Old Trafford, especially after the 3-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur.
But this time, Correio da Manhã claims José Mourinho actually has his position at risk.
According to the newspaper, ‘sources close to the direction’ claim that the Manchester United board has decided to keep him safe until the game against Burnley next weekend.
However, a defeat against The Clarets would ‘hardly be tolerated’, and this is considered to be a ‘key-game’.
That’s because it comes right before an international break, which would be a perfect time for a change of managers, as the new boss would have a few more days to settle in at the club.
Before we buy this story, let’s make something clear here.
Correio da Manhã are not crediting the information to the English press, and are not claiming it as an exclusive either. They normally write ‘according to reports from England…’ or ‘CM understands’, but they don’t use either this time. So it’s an interesting read, but not enough to make much noise for now.
