On Thursday evening, Portuguese football legend Paulo Futre appeared on CMTV and talked up the Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United move.

He said there could be a big blow for Sporting, with the possibility that Bruno won’t play on Friday because there could be an agreement before then.

Futre stated there’s ‘very small details’ left to be sorted out, which flies in the face of some of the earlier claims.

We covered those claims here.

The former football also said there’s an effort to include Andreas Pereira in a deal, almost certainly on loan, and if the Manchester United player refuses the move then there will be more bonuses added to make up the difference.

Given Futre is a big deal in Portugal this will likely spread, but even though he clearly presented his information as new and of his own, it does seem to echo claims made elsewhere in the Portuguese media earlier this week.

CMTV is the TV arm of Correio da Manhã, and last summer that newspaper were very sensationalist with their claims, and not just on Bruno Fernandes.

For now, without any other outlet independently backing it up, it may be best to trust the earlier negative claims over this rather than Futre.

That said, things can change quickly, and that progress, or otherwise, will largely be down to Manchester United.
