After reporting that West Ham United are still considering a late move for William Carvalho, newspaper Record claims the player could end up finding the doors closed due to another Portuguese midfielder’s arrival.
They are now claiming that André Gomes could sign for West Ham and end up killing the transfer of his national teammate, which has been so commented on during over the summer.
Record have learned that Barcelona would agree to let Gomes go on a one year loan deal, as long as West Ham guarantee he will have a minimum number of appearances during the season. The loan wouldn’t have any cost for the Hammers, except, probably, for the player’s wages.
Tottenham aren’t mentioned once by Record, who have been concentrating on the Carvalho and West Ham slant.
However, claims from the English press say Gomes is actually close to Tottenham Hotspur. According to the Daily Mail, Mauricio Pochettino’s influence was crucial for the deal to happen, and the transfer is ‘almost done’.
Meanwhile, there’s no update from the Spanish media on what’s happening with Andre Gomes, with the newspapers there just covering what’s being said elsewhere.
The Spanish media haven’t yet got around to presenting Gomes to Tottenham as imminent but they’ll be happy to if they’re fed the information, with it being repeatedly reported Barcelona have been struggling to offload the player.
