Saturday’s edition of Portuguese newspaper A Bola reports that Wolves have been knocked back by Jose Couceiro. The Vitoria de Setubal boss was linked with Wolves a week ago and A Bola say contact was initiated to try and get him to the Championship club.

Wolves spoke to both the manager and those in charge at Vitoria, but were unable to convince all involved, so quickly moved on.

The next man, perhaps inevitably, was Nuno Espirito Santo. Jorge Mendes may now be the best known agent in the history of football, but a long time ago he was running a nightclub and looking for a career change.

Nuno Espirito Santo, then a long way from being a manager and still pursuing his career as a goalkeeper, became good friends with Mendes and then his first client. With Mendes’ influence at Wolves, it’ll be no surprise if the Portuguese coach follows.

Portuguese newspaper Record say Nuno Espirito Santo is up for it, and they believe he even came close to taking over at Wolves last summer.
