Even though the Portuguese press still can’t be sure if Sérgio Conceição will be staying at Porto or not, the rumours linking him to Everton have gone a bit cold.
Last week, we covered a couple of stories which explained what the Toffees would have to do to sign the manager this summer, as they had been pointed out as the main pretenders for him.
And now that the league is over, several outlets have stories on his future today, but none of them give Everton a single mention.
Most of the local press talk about Porto’s process of renewing his contract, with Record claiming the club are already preparing an offer.
The manager reportedly got ‘frustrated’ at not having any fancy signings in the last summer window, and Porto would like to change that this time. They are also set to offer him a big pay rise.
All these promises are made to convince Conceição to stay, because the approaches he’s been getting from abroad are really concerning the club.
With Everton being linked to so many managers in the past few weeks, it’s hard to tell if they’re serious contenders to sign Conceição. But in case they really want him, it’s a matter of making an attractive offer as soon as possible.
