Portuguese newspaper A Bola today brings an update on the situation of Sporting striker Pedro Mendes.
They report Reading have been ‘insisting’ on taking the 20-year-old to the Championship, but things are not as advanced as is being reported in England.
Although the English press claims there’s a done deal for the player, A Bola states that the clubs are still negotiating for the transfer.
It isn’t known how much Reading are offering or Sporting demanding for the move, but the report says that an agreement could be found in the next few days.
A Bola also points out that Almeria, who are currently in the Spanish second division, are attentive to the player’s situation as well.
Pedro Mendes was promoted to Sporting’s first team this season, making 12 appearances for the club, getting a few minutes in each one of these matches. He even ended up scoring a goal in a Europa League clash against PSV back in September.
His contract with the Lions runs until 2023, and he’s protected by a release clause of €60m.
