Since the English press reported Wolverhampton’s interest in Yacine Brahimi, we’ve seen lots of stories in Portugal saying the exact same thing.
One of them comes from newspaper Jornal de Notícias today. They simply report the chase, saying how much would Porto demand, and that’s all. No big news. They even say that meeting up with former Porto manager Nuno Espírito Santo would be a good thing for Brahimi.
But there’s an outlet with a very interesting story about the player this Tuesday, and that’s O Jogo. They have Brahimi on their front page, and what they have to say should concern any Wolves fans who want the signing
They claim that Porto need to make big sales in the transfer window so they will be fine with Financial Fair Play. And the minimum price to negotiate Brahimi’s sale is €30m.
Now the good news is: Brahimi wants a Premier League move. The very bad news is: a Wolverhampton transfer ‘isn’t very interesting’ for the player.
The newspaper claims that the winger has a ‘difficult relationship’ with Nuno Espírito Santo, and that would be one of the reasons why moving to Molineux isn’t on top of his list right now.
So maybe with Porto desperate for money, Wolves could end up finding a deal in case they beat the competition from Roma. But it seems that Brahimi would need to be convinced as well, and Nuno Espírito Santo would play a big part in this.
It’s worth noting that Rúben Neves was so frustrated once at Porto, with Nuno seemingly changing his mind about a substitution, that he couldn’t hold back the tears. That could have been seen as reason for a reunion being unlikely, but it’s worked out rather well.
