Here’s one more player from the Portuguese league who Nottingham Forest are reportedly in talks for. This time, it’s right winger Daniel Podence, who spent the last season playing for Sporting.
According to Portuguese website Zerozero on Monday, the Championship side have already ‘presented their project’ to the player, which includes the promotion to the Premier League.
The outlet claims ‘the contractual details are being agreed’, and the transfer is a ‘strong option’. They even say that the number of Portuguese players at Forest could be increased ‘in the coming days’, meaning that an agreement would be pretty close.
Daniel Podence had a contract with Sporting which running until 2021, and was protected by a €60m release clause. But he was one of the players who rescinded their contracts after the attacks at Alcochete, and is now free to sign.
Sporting may well launch legal action and with Bruno de Carvalho being ousted as president the situation at the club isn’t quite as volatile.
The 22-year-old winger made 20 appearances for the Lions last season, managing eight assists. Unsurprisingly, he’s a Gestifute client.
