At the weekend, the Italian media pointed out that Juventus are one of the clubs who are chasing Porto star Alex Telles.
With a new club in the race, the Portuguese press has several stories about the left-back’s future today.
O Jogo point out Juve are joining the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona in the competition for the Brazilian, and say there’s a reason why the list includes so many big clubs.
The newspaper brings the the numbers which show how good Telles has been, and that indeed puts him among the best fullbacks in Europe.
With 10 goals and eight assists this season, his 18 contributions for goals put him on top of the list, along with Rangers’ James Tavernier.
They’re followed by Borussia Dortmund’s Achraf Hakimi with 17, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Rangers’ Borna Barišić with 16, then Besiktas’ Caner Erkin with 15.
Porto have tried to extend Telles’ contract twice, and both attempts have been turned down. That’s why they wait for the transfer market now.
O Jogo says that last year, the club had already tried to sell him for the amount of his release clause, which is €40m. Now with such a good season, it’s likely they’ll do it again.
Chelsea continue to be named in these stories, although we’re still to see if the Blues have have something advanced for the player or not.
