Chelsea and Roma are reportedly in talks to sign the Lille sporting director Luís Campos.
It’s Portuguese newspaper A Bola who reports it today, claiming that the official should be leaving the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season.
According to the newspaper, Chelsea’s interest in Campos is not new, but things got ‘more intense’ in the past few months. They claim Roman Abramovich has felt the need of having a name at the ‘international level’ to take care of football, especially for a period when the Blues could be banned from making signings.
Roma, however, are very close to signing him, according to some ‘backstage information’ learned by A Bola. The club would see Campos as the perfect replacement for Monchi.
But when the time comes, A Bola says it shouldn’t be difficult for him to leave the club. Although Chelsea and Roma would both be ready to pay his €3m release clause, it’s more likely he could walk with a friendly agreement, since he has a fine relationship with president Michel Seidoux.
It’s claimed that Campos also had an offer to be Florentino Perez’s ‘special advisor’, but he turned down the job as he wouldn’t have a direct link with Real Madrid.
