Leicester City continue waiting for FIFA to authorise the transfer of Adrien Silva.
After registering the signing with a bit of delay, the Premier League club are now waiting for a decision to know if they can use the midfielder in 2017 or not.
The Portuguese media is all over the case today, reporting that FIFA’s final statement should be out on Monday or Tuesday. And a few newspapers, such as O Jogo, have some additional information on the move.
They claim that in addition to asking the FA for two extra hours to complete the signing, Leicester City still took a few more seconds to register it in the Transfer Matching System.
Still, they claim there’s confidence both from Leicester and Sporting that FIFA will accept the move, especially with the pressure put on by the FA for it to happen.
And even if it’s not allowed, Adrien is still a Leicester City player.
O Jogo claims that there are no clauses saying the transfer should be off in case the registration isn’t made properly, so even if FIFA doesn’t accept it and the midfielder can only play in January, there’s no way back now.
Adrien is expected at Alvalade today or tomorrow to take his personal stuff and say goodbye to his teammates.
The coverage from Correio da Manhã claims Leicester City will only pay Sporting once the midfielder is authorised to play.
