More than a year ago, multiple reports coming out of Spain revealed about former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s involvement in ‘Barçagate’.
It was then stated Bartomeu hired an agency, called I3Ventures, to create a positive image of himself, the club and the club’s then board on various social networking platforms, while damaging the online image of the club’s players, legends and a few other former players.
The intention to damage one’s online image also extended to presidential candidates Joan Laporta and Víctor Font, along with Barca stars Lionel Messi and Gerard Piqué.
Barca presidential candidate Víctor Font had asked for Bartomeu’s resignation in February 2020.
Although the latter didn’t step down after ‘Barçagate’ gathered a lot of media attention, Bartomeu ended up leaving as the club’s president last October.
