Sevilla are looking at the option of strengthening their midfield in January and are looking at several players, which includes Genk’s Sander Berge.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the La Liga outfit previously tried to sign him after he was tracked by their former sporting director Monchi.

It’s claimed that a new club has now joined the race – Tottenham Hotspur – as Mauricio Pochettino ‘thinks of him’ as a replacement for Mousa Dembele.

Estadio Deportivo mentions the operation to sign Berge would cost the Premier League outfit around €12m, which is his current value in the market.

Having picked up a knee injury in October, Berge has now fully recovered and has been one of the regulars in Genk’s starting line up and the report mentions the Norwegian international brings ‘balance and consistency’ to his side.

The profile and the price tag should suit the north London club. With Berge’s contract set to run out in 2021, it will be down to Tottenham to convince him and Genk on a transfer.

This seems like a Tottenham style deal.
