Valencian outlet Super Deporte has a story about João Cancelo today that they’ve tried to make exciting out of not an awful lot of information.
The English press linking Tottenham to Cancelo was jumped upon by media close to Valencia, because it provided a good potential sale.
Super Deporte have carried things on and say the race for the right-back is heating up, with Tottenham, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus all potential destinations for the Portuguese international.
In a reasonable market analysis, they point out the many right-backs who have moved this summer, and all the money that was spent on players for the position.
That’s good news for Valencia and Cancelo, since the player could be worth more and is said to be keen on leaving the club this month.
But it turns out that despite claiming Cancelo’s wish to go, they have no actual information on who would be close to signing him. Especially for Tottenham, who they say the player would be a perfect fit for, due to Mauricio Pochettino’s skills developing young players.
Cancelo ‘adapts perfectly’ to the ‘tactical structure of Tottenham’, say Super Deporte, and, once again, it all sounds more through hope than expectation of a transfer happening.
