There’s a small snippet (and we mean small) in Monday’s edition of L’Equipe which will have interest for Watford fans.
With World Cup fever taking over, the French newspaper have pushed their ‘Mercato’ section to the back and the Watford claim revolves around Pape Gueye.
It’s claimed the 19 year old could leave La Havre, a Ligue 2 club, this summer and that his representatives have been in talks with Watford about a transfer to the Premier League club.
The youngster is rated in French footballer and has represented his national team at U17 and U18 levels. A tall midfielder, Gueye has become frustrated with a lack of football at Le Havre and is considering an exit this summer.
There have been links with other clubs also, but the player’s contract situation isn’t completely clear and L’Equipe don’t mention anything about that or any potential transfer fee.
Watford would surely be looking at Gueye for their development system or a loan elsewhere.
