Marco Asensio’s quick return to form for Aston Villa have the praise being directed back at Unai Emery once again.
That’s at least the case in Mundo Deportivo, where they label the Aston Villa coach as a ‘specialist in recovering stagnant players’ as they cover Asensio today.
The Spanish midfielder joined Aston Villa on loan from Paris Saint Germain in the January transfer window after a frustrating few years in Paris.
He has not looked back since and quickly gotten ‘back to his best’ for his new club’, rediscovering the form that once had him standing out at Real Madrid.
The newspaper argues that he had lost his way in the French capital, falling out of favour under Luis Enrique but has quickly turned a corner at Aston Villa, with four goals in six games in all competitions so far, a more than satisfactory return.
They credit Unai Emery with that, labelling him a ‘specialist in bringing back stagnant players’. He wanted to do it again with Asensio after previous success and so far, has achieved it.
That’s led to plenty of satisfaction, with the Aston Villa fans even giving the player his own song to ‘make him feel at home’. It’s all positive so far and perhaps leading to a permanent move in the summer, thanks to Emery and his magic in reviving players.
